TLI donated PGK158,000 of medical supplies to aid agencies in PNG to help get desperately needed aid to more than 30,000 people isolated in small villages in the PNG Southern Highlands and Hela Provinces, following the 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck last month.

The huge earthquakes and landslides have wiped out entire villages, leaving families without homes, food, water or basic medical aid. The staggering scale of destruction has been the likes not seen in decades where authorities estimate 270,000 people are adversely affected. There are few places in the world as remote, and inaccessible, as the highlands of Papua New Guinea where the earthquake occurred.

TLI is deeply saddened by the loss of life and personal injury suffered by communities. Since the occurrence of the earthquake , TLI has been using its expertise and resources to identify an appropriate relief programme that will benefit the affected people.

TLI  has supplied Tari Provincial Health Authority and Catholic Health Services – Diocese of Mendi with relief programmes comprising of medical equipment and supplies.

 TLI has delivered:
  • Tari Provincial Health Authority: with essential antibiotics, pain relievers and wound care products.
         (Total package: PGK78,000)
  • The Catholic Health Services – Diocese of Mendi: with essential medical equipments and instruments needed to help support its 34 Health facilities, along with essential antibiotics and pain relievers.
        (Total package: PGK80,000)
TLI has been operating in PNG alongside our community partners since 1991, and is focused on helping to provide basic and essential healthcare needs for the PNG community.
